Their efforts impact numerous aspects of society, including but not limited to the health of individuals and ecosystems to the health of the nation's economy.
Modern water systems face such challenges as chemical contaminations, waterborne diseases, supply shortages, water treatment and sanitation and deteriorating, outdated infrastructures. Worldwide, over one billion people lack access to safe drinking water.
